Introduction

Gateways is the newsletter of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America and is the professional journal for those working with young children in Waldorf early childhood settings - kindergartens, play groups, home care programs, parent/child classes and child care centers. Gateways is published twice each year, in the fall and spring.

First published in 1981 as The Waldorf Kindergarten Newsletter, its name changed in 1998 when the Waldorf Kindergarten Association became the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America, reflecting North American Waldorf early childhood movement's expanded interest in serving the child from birth to seven.

Gateways features articles written by and for early childhood educators and others with an interest in the development of the young child. The contents include articles on child development, early childhood research, practical activities for children, the inner life of the teacher, and resources and calendar listings of events of interest to Waldorf early childhood educators. The current editor is Stephen Spitalny at the Santa Cruz Waldorf School in California.

To order subscriptions or back issues, please contact the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America, 285 Hungry Hollow Road, Spring Valley, NY 10977. Tel 845-352-1690. Fax 845-352-1695.
